Done for the daily sketch forum topic "animal in motion" 45 minutes.reference used

Done for the daily sketch forum.Topic was "Evil Lair" . I wanted to show an evil devotee of Goddess Kali making a human sacrifice on the full moon for some magical powers in his evil lair.The lair is ominously dark and the bound and gagged sacrifice is placed inside a crescent to emphasize the darker mystical undertones.I have used absolutely NO reference for anything so proportions of the people are not too accurate.Need to practice much much much more.The time limit was 55 minutes for this challenge but I took 2 hours :( still a long way to go with speed....

Hello people I know I havnt posted in a looong time..but I promise I will hv more frequent posts now.... Im taking sculpting classes from a very talented sculptor and this is something I made in my class. Its just so much fun to do something with clay after painting on the computer for so long. I did some drawings of my own feet to prepare for this.The reference used for this was a cast of the foot of Michelangelo's David. I will upload pics of the reference model and my foot drawings soon. Posting WIP...trying out a master copy of a painting by William Bouguereau Au Bord du Ruisseau [At the Edge of the Brook] . A friend of mine at work had suggested I should try painting in monochrome and try to get the same feel as would come in color....so following his advice and starting on this project.Its a highly detailed painting dont know how much I will be able to reproduce ...but I will try my best....

Added a little more texture to the snow to make the image more interesting

for the daily talk forum....topic was "snowed in"..... done in the time limit of 55 minutes.... its difficult for me still to imagine a scene and paint it from memory without references...but im trying....

Another one done for the cgtalk daily sketch forum...the topic is "old master" done in around one hour.Did not use any reference for this.....im sure could have done a more anatomically correct model with a reference...but I found that not using a reference made me think about form more ..... so it was good practice...

This is my first image painted with a concept completely from my imagination...no references of any kind used...done in around 30 minutes.
Done for the cgtalk daily sketch forum..the theme was Red Sky.... I wanted to portray an evil tribal priest doing a spell thats effecting everything around him...the sky is turning red.....and the spell is even coming back to effect him as well which is denoted by the swirl coming towards him....added a vague devil like formation at the junction between the fire and the sky..... and the vague hand like form coming back to grasp him as well...

Wanted to try something using an actual model and not a photograph.....so picked this buddhist statue since im not confident enought to paint a person yet....... will get there someday....
dont know what possessed me to try something this complicated becoz it has lots of detailed carving....i tried to get it as close as possible..... now i realise why its easier with a photograph...the perspective shifts if i tilt my head...and i cant zoom in :)...
i ran out of time on this one so just somehow finished it.....

This is a portrait of a good friend of mine who always encourages the artist in me. I wanted to try different brushes in photoshop for this one..... also try something a little unusual... I probably dont hv enough skill at the moment to pull off something like this very well right now but just wanted to give it a shot and push myself a little bit more....

This one is for you Neill....probably doesnt resemble you much but all I can say is that you have to come to visit me in India and sit for me for a better portrait :)

the first time ive tried painting from a live reference....set up this simple still life and painted it in almost an hour! i know it doesnt look very finished or anything to justify one whole hour ....but since i ve not painted using life before it was a tough yet tremendously interesting exercise for me!

Done as a study to understand how reflections and refractions work......completed in an hour approx.. used a photo reference for this .... Its a very rough one but I just wanted to solely focus on glass and figure out how to paint an object inside another one.... translucency i mean..... it kindda works i think.....the perspective and proportion isnt too accurate i know..... but i just wanted to try this as an experiment....

This is the first piece I have done without using any kind of reference. This was given as an assignment to me by one of my friends .... his rules were to draw an orange using only the three colors that I have on the top left corner of the image and use only one brush for the whole thing. I did this in 10 minutes.
I already have a new assignment to work on...will post it soon....watch this space.... :)

Done using a photo reference..i know there are issues with proportions..i promise to work harder to fix this for the next work ...anyway i wanted to try wrinkles and skin....... again got overambitious so hvnt been able to finish it completely...maybe will come back to it and add details for clothes and jewellery etc...
i think it kindda works this way too with the details only on the face... :)

A quick one done in around 45minutes to just get the impression of light..I know this isnt like any of my other attempts ...and isnt really that great.....but i just wanted to try something different. .... this is actually done from a photograph of Monet's garden in Giverny... :)

Just practicing sketching. Each was done in around 15-30mins wanted to see what I could achieve with quick sketches.... done over a period of 4 hours i think...these are just half of what i did .............
im being really cheeky here and posting only the ones where the proportions are a little decent :)

Got a little overambitious with this one and tried painting at 2k. Its still not finished and I need to come back to it some other time and do more detailed work on this. But I think it has reached a certain level of completion so posting this.
Its based on a reference from the artrenewal.org website.
Its a sculpture so I still need to add in the details for the cracks etc on it . A little too busy at work so might finish it later!!!
